This inspiration has paved way for realization of STI–Preparatory and Grade School in 2006-2007. Since then, the school went uphill creating a benchmark in the educational community as one of the advocates in progressive education. During its first year of operation, 33 students were enrolled on the pre-school program, having surpasses the grueling challenges of its first year of operation, the school has received positive feedbacks form parents and students. Since then, the population of the school increased, prompting the school to create additional levels to accommodate influx of enrollees. In 2011, the school has proven its viability as formidable educational institution, the Department of Education has granted complete Government Recognition for all level (Pre-school to Grade VI ) much earlier than expected.
Towards the end of 2012, the Board of Trustees came in resolution to change the name of STI-Preparatory and Grade School of Sta. Mesa to St. Therese Academy. Such move was made to provide a clear identity for St. Therese Academy as basic education school offering different program from its subsidiary school STI Educational System, whose main programs are in the field of Information and Technology.
St. Therese Academy under its new name is more determined to bring forth progressive learning opportunities for students under its program. Creating a culture of critical thinking, opinionated and respectful individuals with high standard of dignity and social awareness.
St. Therese Academy is a progressive school that offers an environment of fun and interactive experiences, exposing students to current trends and creative ideas. The institution provides classroom and alternative learning activities that provide opportunities for exploration and attainment of academic and life skills, promote critical thinking, and optimize higher order of thinking skills (HOST).
PROGRESSIVE CURRICULUM
Outcome Based Teaching Approach: Students achievement of academic competency and mastery is facilitated through a system where progress is experienced, appreciated and enjoyed by both learners and parents.
Outdoor Classrooms: Stimulating learning through hands-on experiences, where students encounter concepts and principles beyond books and the classroom, enjoying simulated and actual activities in structured outdoor learning.
On-line Assisted Instructions: When unavoidable circumstances force students to miss class, they can get on-line access of their lessons and other task, as needed.
Introduction to Foreign Language: Providing a head start towards international competitiveness and understanding through basic foreign language training.
Sports Based Physical Education Program: Facilitating developmental gross motor skills through sports, integrating sportsmanship, camaraderie and teamwork.
Home Study Program: An alternative learning approach structured for students with special concerns.
Home-School Partnership Program: Providing opportunities for parents and family members to get involve with their child’s learning, setting chances for bonding and improving family ties.
Parents On-line Facilities (POLF): Parents are given a chance to observe their children during class hour on-line.

St. Therese Academy will offer English as a Second Language (ESL) for foreign students.
